AIDS by Peter Duesberg, PhD and John Yiamouyiannis PhD, Health Action Press 1995, 194 pages $15 Dr. Peter Duesberg has been contesting the AIDS establishment's claim that the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) causes AIDS practically ever since the virus was identified. AIDS is not a new disease, these co-authors maintain, but rather a different name given to old diseases when they occur in the presence of HIV antibodies. The 30-odd illnesses now classified as AIDS (They keep adding a few from time to time.) can take hold in anyone with a weakened immune system whether or not that person also carries the HIV virus.
The authors state flatly that HIV does not cause AIDS. Many people harboring the virus remain healthy, and some AIDS patients test negative for HIV. The authors point to recreational drugs as the primary cause of the AIDS syndrome in America and criticize poisonous drugs like AZT for making it worse. Dr. Yiamouyiannis further specifically blames a number of over-the-counter and prescription drugs as well as chemotherapeutic drugs that depress the immune system.
Lest anyone get the impression that this radical departure from the pronouncements of the medical establishment is mere grandstanding by a couple of mavericks, I hasten to point out that 39 of its 194 pages consist of references to the work of other scientists which support the authors' contentions even though some of them may not arrive at same overall conclusion.
DRESSED TO KILL Sidney Ross Singer and Sonja Grismaijer "Townsend Letter for Doctors" reported that two medical anthropologists have found that women wearing bras for 12 hours or longer every day are19 times more likely than those wearing them less than 12 hours to develop breast cancer because the bra interferes with the lymphatic system's waste disposal activities.
