Dear Friends of the Buffalo,

This weekend our local Montana Department of Livestock agent harassed 5 buffalo back into the park. Of course two hours later the buffalo returned to their natural feeding grounds. The snow keep coming and with it migrate the buffalo. Daily patrols have spotted about 100 about a mile and a half from the border. At the moment BFC is 15 warriors strong, with at least 100 soon to come out we need more people out here with us. If you have ever thought about coming to experience learning from the buffalo, now would be a great time.

This week we were honored by having Scott and Marsha Frazier and John
Potter come to our cabin and do our opening the season prayer. Thanks also
to those that did prayers in their own homes. All who attended were moved by the drumming, singing and prayers. Our energy levels are ready for the harsh winter ahead and we thank you Scott, Marsha, John and everyone else.

A special thanks to Christy Van Winkle and the Boise State Universityfolks for having us spread the word to their community. The women singers and drummers made the event magical. I am forever humbled and look forward to a visit from you all in the buffalo's back yard.

This week we will be doing an aerial recon of the park and outside its boundaries, thanks to our friends at Project Lighthawk (the environmental air force).

I would like to thank all of the people that have been sending donations, letters of support and phone calls. We read your letters at our nightly meetings, sharing them with all the people here. Knowing people support our work keeps us stronger in the field. We unfortunately, are always in need of financial support. We are covered throughout the month of December, but January and the rest of the season aren't quite there. Please help anyway you can, the letters always make us smile.

With the Buffalo,
Mike Mease

* December 3 Day of Prayer
Friends of the Buffalo:
We met with the Field Campaign yesterday Dec 3 2000. We said prayers for this coming season. We were encircled by the many who joined with us from far off places.

I wish to thank each of you for your prayers and help. We sold enough calendars to cover costs for the trip to West Yellowstone. Thank you Buffalo Folks for your help,

I wish to express my thanks to all of you who pray for our Buffalo. With your continued help and prayers we can make a difference for all generations to come, that we were here and this is our time.
Thanks to all
AHO,
Ehnamani   Santee@gomontana.com

We would like to say a very special word of thanks to all the people who have already responded to our calls for support this winter. Last month we sent out a direct mail to many individuals around the U.S. and the world who have financially supported us in the past. To date we have received over $3,000 in cash donations in response to this letter. We have also received generous donations of equipment and winter clothing. Thank you for the money, for the teepee, for the sleeping bag and for the boots and cold weather gear. They will be invaluable to us in our daily patrols this winter.

As we said in the letters, all the signs -- climatic, environmental and political -- are that this winter could be the harshest since that of 1996/7 when 1,100 buffalo were sent to their deaths by Montana's Department of Livestock. Our work is more necessary than ever. Without the concern and generosity of our thousands of supporters we could not do our job of being your eyes and ears outside Yellowstone National Park. Your messages of support, your financial aid and your gifts of equipment and gear are deeply and sincerely appreciated.

To all those who have not yet had the chance to respond, we look forward to hearing from you in the near future and we wish you much joy and peace throughout the coming holiday season. Thank you again for your love of the buffalo and for your generosity to us. With your continued help we will together continue to make a difference for the buffalo and ensure that they and their habitat are protected and preserved for our children and for the next seven generations.
Sincerely,
Cris Mulvey.
Program Development Director.

Big thanks to Salle for donating a good running vehicle to help Buffalo Field Campaign buffalo patrols! Thank you Salle!
